We are constantly testing and trying out new equipment, and are in the process of building some of our own. All investigators are trained and certified on each piece of equipment before they use it in an investigation. Below you will find the equipment we use on an average investigation.

EMF Field Tester It is theorized that spirits may disrupt the electro magnetic field, which is why EMF detectors are used in paranormal research.   Normal EMF field fluctuations are generally in the .5-1.5 mG (milligauss) range.  EMF fluctuations above 8 mG are usually attributed to an explainable source such as a microwave.  The general belief in the paranormal field is that paranormal activity is usually found when there are  fluctuations in the 2-8 mG range.  This is a theory, and has yet to be proven, so we will continue to attempt to find the source of any and all EMF fluctuations before we call it an anomaly.

KII Meter.  Used primarily for detecting fluctuations in Electromagnetic Fields.  There is a theory embraced by many paranormal investigator that entities can manipulate the EM field to communicate.  So far our field tests using this technique have not supported this theory, however we will continue to test this device.

Non-contact Thermometers It is theorized, that when paranormal activity is present, it is thought that the energy in the atmosphere changes. This can be noted physically, usually by a drop in temperature. The infrared laser thermometer or non-contact IR thermometer, is a tool often used by researchers. We have found them to be helpful for measuring surface temperatures; however, they should always be used in conjunction with thermometers that measure ambient air (surrounding air), placed throughout an investigation site.

Wireless motion detectors or sensors are equipped with an audible alarm system that sounds when something or someone passes within a certain distance of the sensor and can be placed throughout an investigation site, securing areas from nuisances, whether animal or human. They can also double as an investigative tool; the theory in this being that the energy of an entity passing by the sensor may also sound the alarm. Video cameras working in conjunction with wireless motion sensors, are usually recommended.
Digital Audio Recorders used to capture Electronic Voice Phenomena: The hearing of unexplainable voices during the playback of a recording made on a electronic recoding device. The voices can not be identified as known persons speaking or events (mechanical sounds, background noise etc) that took place while the record was being performed. Can be encountered on both tape and digital recorders. Sometimes also found on video recorders.  Audio captured on digital audio recorders is digitally analyzed.
Digital Cameras Used to document activity during investigations.
Night Vision Handheld video cameras.  Used to document and record during the investigation.  Currently we have 6 in use.

Night Vision Scope.  Used primarily for scouting and security.  The night vision scope allows the user to see in complete and total darkness.
Wireless Audio Used to monitor locations that are not easily accessible.
Wired IR Cameras Used with DVR to record audio and video in locations during an investigation.  Each camera will record video in total darkness up to 35feet.

DVR:  Custom "franken-puter" customized specifically for our purposes. 8 USB ports allows us to download numerous pieces of evidence at one time.  2-160GB internal hard drives, and a 1Terabyte external drive allows for hundreds of hours of video storage.  P4 Dual Core Processor and 4GB of RAM. Stackable DVR cards capable of running up to 32 cameras at one time on the DVR software. All software used for review and analysis is installed on this computer as well as several laptop computers.
Software

Audio Analysis is performed on Cool Edit Pro, which allows us the capability of reducing background noise, eliminating hisses and pops, amplifying sound and reversing audio.

Video Analysis is performed on Pinnacle Studio Pro 12, which is also where we edit our videos for the web.  While Pinnacle allows for a variety of effects, we never apply effects to evidence videos- only for videos to be used for entertainment purposes.

DVR software allows us to listen to audio & video on up to 32 cameras.  The software allows us to view one or all cameras at one time, listen to audio on any camera (even while viewing video from another).  It also allows us to view several cameras at once in playback mode, jump to a specific time, or watch in high speed.
